This is not my photograph, but it is a place I look forward to visiting—maybe this summer.
A dear friend has become a client, and my newest project is to design a website for Suvir Saran. Some of you already know him as the author of Indian Home Cooking, and some might have had the pleasure of eating at Dévi in New York City, where he and Co-Executive Chef, Hemant Mathur, produce some of the most delicious and amazing Indian food on earth.
Suvir called me up on Sunday, and asked if I could help him design a website that addresses his multi-faceted life—as chef, consultant, author, traveler, and now, gentleman farmer. He and his partner, Charlie, have acquired a beautiful piece of property in upstate New York: on 67 acres, they will be raising goats, sheep, and chickens. The name of the farm is also the name of his cookbook, to be released in October: American Masala.
I'll post when we launch the site: we are extremely pleased with the design and look of it right now.
Suvir's generosity allowed me to go out and get a little iPod Shuffle, to get back to the gym. As soon as I replace my laptop—in April, I think—I'll be good to travel again. Yay.
If you're still jonesing for another good blog, my friend, Cathy, sent me over to check out Pioneer Woman. Doo law, she's gooooooooooooood.
So is Free Radical, found at Culinate.
And now for something completely different: the street drawings of Julian Beever. Unbelievable genius, and a sense of humor.

Yesterday was a perfect, perfect day in all regards. Bob had the day off unexpectedly, and we took Logan down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I love the jellyfish: I could pull up a lawnchair and stare at them for hours.

That's all for now. Just wanted to catch you up with good news, and there is more on the horizon.

Thanks for hanging with me.

Love the photo; and thanks for promoting family farms.
(You can indulge your love for both jellies AND sustainable food on May 18, when we offer our annual Cooking for Solutions event at the aquarium -- a gourmet gala where celebrity chefs prepare dishes using ingredients from sustainable ag operations, many of them small and local.)
Check it out at www.CookingforSolutions.org.
